CALDWELL — Bryce Bronson scored off an assist from Brody Lundblad with three seconds remaining, lifting the Coeur d’Alene Vikings past the Columbia River Chieftains 53-51 in the semifinals of the Winco tournament on Friday at the College of Idaho.
With the win, Coeur d’Alene (7-1) advances to tonight’s championship to face tournament host Centennial High of Boise at 6:30 p.m. PST.
“We came out of the timeout and ran the clock a little bit,” Coeur d’Alene coach Kurt Lundblad said. “It was great execution by our kids and we didn’t let them get a shot off. It was good to get a win and get out of there.”
Brody Lundblad had 18 points and five assists, Bronson 10 points and seven rebounds and Joey Naccarato nine points and eight rebounds for Coeur d’Alene. Sam Matheson also scored 10 points for Coeur d’Alene.
Jacob Hjort scored 16 points for Columbia River High of Vancouver, Wash.

WENATCHEE, Wash. — Kenny Louie-McGee and James Carlson scored 13 points each for the Timberwolves in a nonleague loss to the Wildcats.
“We reversed the ball and defended them really well,” Lake City assistant coach Kelly Reed said. “We just struggled to shoot it and couldn’t buy a basket.”
Lake City (2-8) hosts Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday to open 5A Inland Empire League play.

WENATCHEE, Wash. — Nina Carlson scored 12 points and Whitney Meier added 11 points, leading the Timberwolves past the Wildcats in a nonleague game.
Lauren Rewers scored eight points and Keara Simpson had 11 points for Lake City (11-2), which opens 5A Inland Empire League play by hosting Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday at 5:45 p.m.
“Nina and Lauren had really good games,” Lake City coach Bryan Kelly said. “Nina had 10 points in the third quarter and we really came out and picked up the pressure in the third quarter and played with a little more control. It was some of the best execution we’ve had all season. We were able to get some of our younger kids in during the fourth quarter, which will be good for us down the road.”
Kaitlyn Cox scored eight points for Eastmont.
