SANDPOINT — A preliminary hearing is being reset for a Washington state man accused of pointing a rifle at a Sandpoint Police officer and engaging in a six-hour standoff with authorities earlier this month.

The hearing in James David Biddix’s case was set for Wednesday, but is being pushed to Jan. 13 to give the defense additional time to review the case.

Biddix, 48, of Sedro-Wolley, is charged with felony assault and misdemeanor counts of eluding and resisting arrest. The charges stem from a Dec. 16 incident that began in the city and ended at the home of Biddix’s parents in Sunnyside.
