SANDPOINT — A Colburn man accused of wounding another man in a shooting during an altercation at Bloom Lake last summer entered into a plea agreement Tuesday to resolve his felony battery case.

Michael Jesse Chisholm entered an Alford plea to aggravated battery. Under the plea, Chisholm maintains he is innocent of the offense but acknowledges there's enough evidence for a jury to convict him.

Chisholm faces up to 15 years in prison when he's sentenced, although the state is recommending a five- to 10-year term. The court is not obligated to adopt the recommendation and Chisholm remains free to argue for a lesser sentence.
