Local wrestling teams got started in the new year on Saturday. Polson traveled to Dillon, and Ronan, Mission/Charlo and Arlee competed at Mission/Charlo’s Mission Mountain Classic.

Polson

In Dillon on Saturday, the Polson wrestling team swept all three of their duals. Against Dillon, six Pirates pinned their opponents, including Nick Marquardt, who pinned his in less than a minute. Against Butte Central, Polson won 72-3. RJ Pierre pinned his second opponent of the day in the 103 weight class, and three others also pinned their competition, including Mateo Quinones, who did get a chance to wrestle in the first dual. Hamilton was the last dual for the Pirates. In a 55-15 win, Jaben Wenzel won his first match of the day, Parker Adler won his second, and Koby Garcia pinned his second opponent. The Pirates took on Frenchtown on Tuesday, and travel to Ronan on Friday and Saturday for the Western Montana Duals.

Arlee

While Polson was in Dillon, other local wrestling teams traveled to Mission. Ronan, Mission/Charlo, and Arlee all had a productive day. In the 113 weight class, Arlee’s Brandan Ryan took fourth place, as did Skyler Titsworth in the 126 class. TJ Knoll was third in the 145 weight class, and Leondre Bolen took fourth in the A group of the 152 weight class. Alex Bertollt, who is having a great senior year, took second in the 182 weight class behind Mission/Charlo’s Gus Bosley.

Mission/Charlo

The host team also had a great day. Among the placers was Cole Gilleard, who won the B group of the 120 weight class. Bailey Weible took second in the A group of the same weight class. In the 145 weight class, Mission/Charlo’s Troy Mitchell took second, and in the A group of the 152 weight class, Trent Dennison wook top honors. Gus Bosley and Ethan Goss-Dickie both won their respective weight classes, and Chris Anderson placed in the top four of the 205 weight class.

Ronan

Ronan also had a good day of wrestling in Mission. Gavin Martin in the 113 class, Noah Cheff in the 120 class, and Jared Neiss in the 145 class all took first place. Zane Walchuck in the 103 weight class, Kane McAllister in the 120 A weight class, and Ashton Courville in the 132 A class all took fourth. Seth Cheff was in the top four of the 126 class, and Justin Mays was third in the 152 class. Steven Michael was third in the 170 class, and Kail Cheff took fourth in the 182 class. The team as a whole placed in the top four in almost every weight class. They host the Western Montana duals on Friday and Saturday in Ronan.
