Dave Graybill: The Fishin' Magician

I know it is only January, but kokanee fever is already taken hold here in Central Washington. Lake Roosevelt is famous for producing kokanee of state record size and did you know that kokanee have been caught in December this winter on Lake Chelan?
That’s right. Jeff Witkowski of Darrell and Dads Family Guide Service has boated as many as 20 fish a day on the big lake.
I am making plans to get out with Jeff very soon to do a couple of days of test fishing with the gear from Kokabow Fishing Tackle for kokanee, and also a day of laker fishing with some spinners from Dutch Fork Custom Lures.
Witkowski says the kokanee are averaging about 14 inches so far this year and this is a great time to get whopper lakers.
These fish are feeding heavily on Mysis shrimp now and are fabulous table fare, too. I am very eager to see where on Lake Chelan Witkowski is finding good numbers of both of these species and if the gear we test works as good as I think it will.
Keep an eye on my reports. I will be sharing what I learn with you very soon!

I had a great experience the other day. I had stopped by Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee and ran into someone that I knew from Lake Chelan.
