Ponderay hires new officer

PONDERAY — Ponderay will have a new officer on the streets starting Saturday after the council unanimously approved hiring Erica Calderon.

Ponderay Police Chief Michael Hutter discussed her hiring with the council during an executive session Monday. Mayor Steve Geiger said the council unanimously approved her hiring.

“She did well in the academy,” Hutter said. “We think she will make a good officer.”
