The Bigfork Community Players announce auditions for the comedy productions “Dearly Departed,” to be performed April 8-10.

The Turpin clan put the “fun” in funeral. Bud Turpin, as we learn after his death, was not just mean but also right surly. Nevertheless, as Rev. Hooker would advise, it’s best to remember the happier times. And acknowledge that part of the surliness might be due to his wife’s attitude, who for 33 years, offered up “not so much as a warm handshake.” In the backwoods of the Bible Belt, Bud’s kin do their best to provide a dignified departure to their patriarch. Some things are just too weird to experience with a straight face.

The Players need five men and six women, ages 20s to 70s, to complete the cast. Auditions will be held Sunday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Marina Cay Resort, 180 Vista Lane in Bigfork.

No preparation is necessary and pages from the script will be provided.
