County OKs anti-tobacco prohibition

SANDPOINT — Bonner County is starting the new year with a new policy prohibiting the use of tobacco products on county property.
"The signage isn't quite up, but the policy is in place," said Cary Kelly, chairman of the county's board of commissioners.
The prohibition applies to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco, snuff and electronic cigarettes. With the exception of e-cigarettes, the prohibition does not apply to other tobacco-cessation products.
The prohibition applies to employees and members of the public. Employees can be disciplined for violating the policy and members of the public will be advised of the prohibition if they use tobacco on county property, according to Kelly.
