MIKE CORRIGAN
Polson’s Mike Corrigan is having a great senior season as a Pirate wrestler. After taking sixth place last year at the Class A state championships, Corrigan is looking to finish his senior year off right. Currently, he is ranked second in the state in the 205 weight class. This past weekend at the Western Montana Duals, Corrigan’s first three matches were pretty short. He pinned three opponents in three minutes and 24 seconds; the first in 1:15, the second in 1:09, and the third in 59 seconds. In the team’s championship dual, he was defeated. However, look for Corrigan to continue to dominate the conference in his weight class this year.
ALYSSIA VANDERBURG
Arlee’s freshman Alyssia Vanderburg is making a name for herself quickly in the high school basketball ranks. The 6’0” post is the team’s high scorer with 120 points through eight games averaging 15 points a game. She is also averaging over six rebounds per game.
The Scarlets, who are currently 6-2, had many talented athletes coming into the season, but with the addition of Vanderburg, the Scarlets are looking to make a deep run into the post season. With six girls 5’11” or taller, Vanderburg and others have made it difficult for other teams to defend them.

The first-annual Paddle for Clean Water took place on a cool Sunday morning at Flathead Lake’s King’s Point. Over 100 people participated in the event, which aimed to raise money for the Flathead Lakers, a conservation organization in Polson. Even with the chilly start, nobody backed out. In fact, they had a few extras. One of the organizers, Dana Johnston, said she was happy with the turnout.
