Polson Police post video surveillance of the botched entry attempt.
An unknown male took several seconds to decide if he would attempt to break into a Polson liquor store at about 2:17 a.m. Jan. 13.
He eventually pitched a brick against the door, but ultimately struck out.
Now, Polson Police want to speak to him.
The male, who appears on video with a sweatshirt hood pulled over most of his head, jacket, light-colored backpack, dark pants and dark tennis shoes, walked onto video camera surveillance after he stepped over a skewed parking lot pylon while holding a long, perfectly rectangular brick in his hand.
The suspect then peered into the store window, touched the door with his bare fingers and gave it a small shove.
It was locked.
The suspect stepped back over the parking lot pylon and wandered to the edge of the surveillance camera’s view. Several moments later, the suspect returned to the storefront, slowly waving the brick.
More window peering ensued, then the suspect aimed his brick at the door.
He stepped back, stretched his jacket sleeves away from his arms, and took a metered practice baseball swing at the door.
The suspect turned away, stepped back over the pylon began walking away from the store, got about eight or ten feet away, turned and flung the brick at the door from a distance.
He was a right-handed swinger, the surveillance video shows.
The brick bounced off the heavy glass door and the suspect stepped over the pylon for the fourth time as he snapped his right fingers in what appeared to be an ‘ah shucks’ gesture.
Jumping the pylon, he picked up the brick, jumped the pylon and threw again.
The potential burglary suspect followed the same pattern a third time.
He failed.
Frustrated, the suspect approached the door, grabbed the handle with both hands, kicked the door with his right tennis shoe, failed, grabbed the brick, walked over the pylon, turned and threw it again.
Failed.
The unknown suspect finally picked up the brick and jogged away.
