The Kalispell Police Department deployed its special response team to handle a report of shots fired and several people fighting in the street on Hawthorn West Road just before midnight Thursday.

The event lasted between two and three hours before it ended peacefully.

According to a press release, two men were immediately detained when officers arrived; police learned a third man had gone back into his home.

Negotiators were unsuccessful in contacting the man and the response team was sent out to help secure the area.

The man eventually left the home and was detained.

One of the men was taken to the hospital for minor injuries from the original altercation.

Kalispell Police Administrative Capt. Wade Rademacher said that around 20 responders handled the call.

No one has been arrested or charged in the case.

“The investigation is going to continue, there could charges or there could not be,” Rademacher said.
