BOYS BASKETBALL: Vikings suffer first loss of season in Florence

FLORENCE — Florence took charge down the stretch, holding off a strong push from Bigfork in a 53-49 nonconference victory on Saturday night in a game between two of the last unbeaten teams in Class B.
The Vikings fell behind after a big first quarter, trailing 28-22 at half. Bigfork trailed by nine entering the final period but rallied to take the lead midway through the quarter before ultimately coming up short.
Florence scored the decisive basket a putback in the final seconds to take the lead for good.
Jon Landon led the Vikings and all scorers with 16 points, and Joseph Potkonjak had 11. Adam Jordt and George Gibson each added six.
Levi Clagett paced the Falcons with 12 points.
Bigfork returns to conference play Friday when they host Libby at 7:30 p.m.
