Work at the Whitefish City Hall and parking structure construction site should soon turn toward pouring concrete for the buildings.

Work on the rammed aggregate piers wrapped up early last week. Work had been expected to continue through this week, but as of Monday crews had already moved off site.

“We’re about a week or so ahead of schedule,” said Mike Cronquist, the city’s representative.

Concrete forms will be put in place starting at the southeast side of the project, which will become the new City Hall building. Delivery of the steel is expected by the end of the week and concrete work is set to begin the last week of January.

Cronquist said work on the site will slow slightly, but then ramp up in the next three or four weeks. Concrete work will increase the truck traffic through downtown with 10 to 20 loads of concrete expected to be delivered per day.

“We will see heavier traffic to the site starting in February into March,” he said.
