ROYAL CITY — Saying the district is asking its voters for the same amount as the last two years, Superintendent Rose Search announced an Operation and Maintenance Levy of $2.08 per $1,000 of value for property owners in the district.
Search said the levy rate for the second year of this levy cycle would be $2.05. Those rates will generate about $1.37 million each year.
The election will end at 8 p.m. on Feb. 9. It will start as soon as the first ballots arrive in the mail on or about Jan. 22.
“We’ve been doing really well with our finances. We feel that will cover the needs of the district,” Search said.
Search added that passage of this levy will trigger a levy equalization amount of more than $1 million.
Levy funds cover programs a district would like to have but which are not covered by state basic education funds.
Levy funds pay for supplies, basic transportation, music, technology, activity buses, field trips, grounds and maintenance, curriculum, athletics, staff professional development and salaries for class size reduction.
