Clark Fork teams defeat Darby, split with Valley Christian

It was a good night for the Clark Fork Cats on Thursday when they met the Tigers in Darby. The boys had a close game in the first quarter, where they were down by two points. In the second quarter they pulled ahead with a four point lead making the score 19-15. By the third quarter, the Cats put another 17 points up, pulling in a 12 point lead. They sealed the deal in the fourth quarter with a game ending 55-40 for the win. Aaron Kelly lead in points with 17, followed by Mike Perkins with 14.
The Lady Cats took an early lead in the game against the Tigers, ending the first quarter with a 24-10 lead. Both teams racked up 18 points in the second quarter, keeping the Cats in the lead. The Lady Cats kept the lead through the third and fourth quarters, even though the Tigers put up more points. In the third quarter, the Tigers had 17 points to the Cats 15 and in the fourth quarter the Cats put another 21 points on the board compared to the Tigers 24. The final score was a Cat win of 78-69. Mackenzie Mueller had the game high with 31 points.

It was a mixed bag on Friday night in Alberton as the Clark Fork Cats faced the Valley Christian Eagles. The Eagles are currently undefeated and the boys had a challenge in front of them. The Cats came out fighting in the first quarter putting up the first basket of the evening. But the Eagles quickly took control of the court and ended the first quarter with an 8-15 lead. The Cats managed to stand their ground in the second quarter, with a deficit of 11 points at the half, 14-25. By the end of the third quarter, the Eagles pulled ahead with a healthy lead of 18-38. By the fourth quarter, the Cats couldn’t claw their way back and took a defeat with a final score of 24-57.
Once again the Lady Cats had a stellar performance in their matchup against the Lady Eagles. They pulled into an early lead, leaving the Eagles in the dust at the end of the first quarter with a 23-6 score. The ladies kept on putting up baskets and led the Eagles 37-13 at the half. The Eagle’s managed to put a few more points on the board in the second half, but couldn’t catch the Cats as they flew to a winning final score of 60-30.
