Ronan's Peterson takes second at Rocky Mountain Classic

This past week, wrestling teams started to wind down their regular seasons, preparing for the divisional meets held at the beginning of February.

Polson

Last Tuesday, Polson held their senior night wrestling dual against Columbia Falls. The Pirate wrestlers came out on top, defeating the Wildcats 43-24. Among the winners were Bridger Wenzel, Cameron Brown, Parker Adler, Colton Cote, Noah Humphrey, and Mike Corrigan, who all pinned their opponents.

On Friday and Saturday, Polson traveled to Missoula for the Rocky Mountain Classic against some stiff competition from A, AA and out of state teams. The highest placing Pirates were RJ Pierre, Cameron Brown, and Mike Corrigan, who all took fourth place in their respective weight classes. As a team, Polson took 14th place.

Ronan

Ronan traveled to Mission on Thursday night to dual against the Bulldogs for their senior night. A few of the winners included Noah Cheff at 120, who pinned his opponent, Jared Neiss, who defeated his opponent at 145, and Gray Cook at 205, who defeated Chris Anderson.

On Friday and Saturday, Ronan traveled to Missoula and competed against some much larger schools. The highest placing Chief was Hunter Peterson, who took second place overall in his 113 weight class. Jared Neiss also had a good tournament, placing seventh overall. Jesse Herrera won two matches before losing in the quarterfinals. As a team, Ronan tied for 19th place with CMR.

Mission/Charlo

The Bulldogs hosted their senior night on Thursday against Ronan. Israel Umphrey and Ethan Goss-Dickie, the two seniors on the team, both won their matches.

On Friday and Saturday, Mission/Charlo traveled to Choteau. They competed against some of the top Class B/C teams in the state. Israel Umphrey had a great tournament, placing sixth in the 160 weight class. Gus Bosley also had a good tournament, placing fifth in the 182 weight class. Ethan Goss-Dickie was the third Bulldog to place. He took third overall in the 285 weight class.

Arlee

Arlee also traveled to Choteau this past weekend. TJ Knoll took second place in the 145 weight class, as did Alex Bertollt in the 182 weight class. No results were available from Arlee’s other meets last week.
