SANDPOINT — The Lake Pend Oreille School District is in the market for a new Internet service provider.

The district opened bids for high-speed wide area network service for a one-year contract, as well as opened bidding for a fiber network. District officials would prefer to have a fiber network, but know that may not happen by September.

"Due to the time involved in a fiber build, we want to cover our bases if we need coverage for one-year," said Erik Olson, director of technology.

Olson said the district already bid for fiber service, but had to send it back out for another bid because of an e-rate and RFP discrepancy. Olson said the district anticipates getting about five bids and it would cover the whole district.
