It was a long trip for a few matches.
The Columbia Falls wrestling team beat Stevensville in a dual Saturday night, 51-24. Both teams were open at 103, but Stevi gave up forfeits at 126, 132, 145, 152. It’s a symptom, unfortunately, of the state of Class A wrestling right now, as many schools who have programs can’t field a full team. Columbia Falls this year is proving to be the exception to the rule.
The team wraps up the regular season with the Whitefish duals tournament Friday starting at 1 p.m..
Coach Jessie Schaeffer said the goal is for the squad to get in about three matches apiece. The team has a solid core of nine to 10 wrestlers right now who will be looking to make a mark in the post season. This year’s divisional tourney is in Whitefish Feb. 5-6.
