EAST WENATCHEE — Unable to contend for the district championship and a team berth to state after finishing fifth in the Columbia Basin Big Nine, Moses Lake set its sights on nabbing one or two of the individual bids.

Sophomore Danielle Garcia came the closest with 557 pins, 51 pins behind Eastmont’s Cheyanne Greening who finished third overall and secured one of the two individual bids. Garcia bowled a high-game of 195 pins and finished sixth overall.

“She had a pretty good shot,” head coach Billy Brice said.

Wenatchee walked away with the district championship and a trip to state, racking up 3,890 pins. It was a tight margin as Eastmont finished with 3,874 pins. Both teams finished with identical 11-1 records in CBBN play, splitting two meetings during the season.

West Valley’s Amanda Selberg finished first overall with 659 pins and was the other individual to earn a state berth. Selberg started her day right, bowling a 278 in her first game.

Moses Lake’s Kimberly Mulder took 13th place with 483 pins, Charlene Sanislo was 16th with 472 pins and Alyssa Gray was 26th with 394 pins.

“She (Sanislo) just struggled a little bit,” Brice said. “I thought she had the potential to do a little better.”

Recently, Mulder was named all-league second team. The senior shot above her 166 average in two out of her three games.

Brice said he planned to retire after this season and is excited to start the “next chapter” of his life. He thanked Moses Lake athletic director Loren Sandhop, the school district and his assistant coaches Dan Stevenson and Tonia Busherd.
