SANDPOINT — There are dueling pieces of legislation that could move up the date a person can change their political party affiliation or eliminate any deadline for making such a change.?Senate Bill 1195 would move the deadline for switching party affiliation prior to the primary election from March to Feb. 12. Senate Bill 1203 would strike the deadline altogether.?Roughly half of all Idaho voters are unaffiliated and rarely change party registration, Chief Deputy Secretary of State Tim Hurst told the Associated Press.?Under current Idaho law, the only deadline for changing party affiliation is March 11.
