SANDPOINT — The 7B Women, a committee of the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce, invite you to attend their July luncheon on Tuesday, July 5 at Tango Café in the Columbia Bank Center. The luncheon will begin at 11:45 a.m. and promises to be full of great opportunities to network and learn more about perfecting one’s elevator pitch.

In the third and final segment of the Perfecting the Elevator Pitch series, 7B Women’s featured speaker is Jeannie Hunter, the president and founder of “Growing Dreams Productions,” a local company that is committed to providing theatrical opportunities and instruction to our area youth.

Hunter’s passion for theater and education has led her to a Master’s degree in education, and she currently teaches theater, debate and speech classes at Sandpoint High School.

While the 7B Women’s other Elevator Pitch presentations have focused on the content and delivery of promoting one’s business, Hunter will speak about the importance and use of body language, something many of us don’t even think about but is actually a vital element in the art of communication.

The presentation by Hunter will be interactive. She will present techniques and some exercises attendees can practice with one another.

“If Jeannie can take my 15-year-old son who was incredibly uncomfortable talking in front of a group, to a junior in high school who can give a presentation in his speech class without breaking a sweat and earning a perfect score, then I know she can help all of us present ourselves with a little more confidence in our 30-second pitch,” said Gina Hall, the secretary of the 7B Women Committee.

The luncheon is open to everyone in the community, both men and women. The cost is $20 or $15 for chamber members. Pre-registration is highly encouraged. The luncheon takes place at Tango Café in the Columbia Bank Building from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The luncheon will also feature a business card swap, so be sure to bring your business cards.

If people would like an opportunity to promote their business at the luncheon, they are asked to bring an item to raffle and will be given a “minute with the mic” at the conclusion of the luncheon.

Register by contacting the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce at 208-263-2161 or online at sandpointchamber.org.

Clines giving talk on endearing relationships

With February upon us, thoughts turn to Valentine’s Day. Whether you love it or dread it, it is a time to reflect and focus on nurturing the relationships in our lives. Over the years, many of us here in Sandpoint have turned to world renowned psychiatrist and author Foster Cline to guide us through those complicated moments. Whether it is a relationship with a child or a spouse, Dr. Cline has provided us with thoughtful advice through his books and countless local speaking engagements.
