Legion baseball: Glacier Twins A sweep Mavs

WHITEFISH — Ryan Veneman tossed a 2-hitter to power the Glacier Twins A to a 9-0 victory in the opener of an American Legion baseball doubleheader with the Missoula Mavs A on Sunday at Memorial Field.
Veneman struck out six batters and walked none.
Tristin Steinwand, 2 for 4, and James Sampson-Keck, 1 for 4, keyed the Twins offense. Sampson-Keck drove in two runs.
A.J. Wetsch, 1 for 2, doubled and drove in a run.
In the second game, every Twins batter managed to get a hit, led by Sampson-Keck, 3 for 4, and Greyson Bistodeau, 3 for 3, in a 13-3 romp.
Max Smyley and Derek Kastella had two hits each.
Kastella and Vinny Smith doubled while Colten Parker belted a triple.
Kastella shared mound duties with Smyley, holding the Mavs to three hits.
The Twins host the Kalispell Lakers A on Tuesday for a single game at 7 p.m.
The same two teams play a single game in Kalispell on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

POLSON — The Mission Valley Mariners A did all of their scoring in the third inning and held off a late rally by the Clark Fork Vipers in their annual tournament, which winds up four days of play today.
Bransen Krebs, 3 for 3, led the Mariners attack. Jacob Harrod had two hits in four trips to the plate.
Krebs, Walter Wood and Nyqolas Gillingham had one RBI each.
Tyler Kelsch, Warren Wood and Micah McClure shared mound duties and held the Vipers to four singles.
In the Mariners second outing of the day, McClure went the distance on the mound in a 4-2 win over the Dillon Cubs.
McClure allowed eight hits, struck out eight and walked no batters.

POLSON — The Cranbrook Bandits scored four times in the bottom of the fifth inning to edge the Kootenai Valley Rangers.
The Rangers held a 8-0 lead before the Bandits tallied five runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Brad Stein led the Rangers offense, going 3 for 4 and scoring twice.
Dawson Henrie, 2 for 2, doubled for Kootenai Valley and drove in one run.
Quade Anderson, 1 for 4, had two RBIs for the Rangers.

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Kalispell Lakers AA improved to 3-1 in tournament play by defeating the Pullman Posse and the Seattle Stars.
Tiler Whiteaker, 2 for 3, homered, drove in a run and scored twice to power the Lakers in the win over the Posse.
Leif Ericksen, 1 for 4, doubled and also drove in a run for the Lakers.
Logan DeCock, 2 for 3, scored once.
Against the Seattle Stars, Andrew Schleusner, 1 for 4, scored twice and drove in two runs.
Patrick O’Connell, 2 for 3, had one RBI and scored twice.
Micah Benson was the other top hitter for the Lakers, going 2 for 4.
Schleusner and O’Connell both tripled.
Jayson Combs stole three bases for the Lakers.
No results were available from Sunday’s tournament action.
The Lakers return to regular season play on Tuesday hosting Medicine Hat for a conference doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
