Barbara (Bobbie) Rae Hendrickson (Waade) was born on Sept. 2, 1936, in Faith, S.D., to Norman Waade and Dessie Waade (Gleason). She passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016.

When Bobbie was a baby, her mother, father and the Gleason family moved from South Dakota to Hayden Lake, Idaho, in the winter of 1936. She went to school at the old Hayden Elementary school where her grandfather, Merle Gleason was the caretaker. She also went to school in South Dakota and California.

Bobbie married Maynard E. Hendrickson in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 1955 and they were married for 58 years when Maynie passed away in 2013. Maynie was the love of her life and remained so.

They bought an old 1914 house in Dalton Gardens in 1962, raised their three children and lived there until the end. Bobbie and Maynie transformed the property with beautiful flowers, gardens and trees. Stories have it that the farmhouse had the only bathroom in Dalton in the ’40s. An older man stopped by the house in the 1980s, he said he used to live in the house and all the school-kids wanted to come by and use the bathroom as it was such a novelty.

Bobbie was active in the Mt. Carrol Ladies luncheons held monthly. She enjoyed meeting with the neighbors who had lived there for awhile and new residents to Mt. Carrol. Bobbie loved to garden, do needlepoint, put together puzzles and was a whiz at crossword puzzles. She was a great shot and she and Maynie did a lot of camping near Hayden Creek with her cousin, Duane Gleason and sister-in-law, Irene Gleason. She enjoyed making Norwegian potato dumplings for family and friends to try. She also loved to tell stories about the family and all the goofy things they did.

Bobbie is survived by her sons, Ken Hendrickson and Voyne Hendrickson (Dianna) of Lewiston, Idaho; daughter Sandy Forstrom (Jack) of Athol, Idaho; granddaughter Haley Hendrickson of Missoula, Mont.; grandsons Eric Forstrom (Dawn) of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Brian Forstrom (Lacey) of Coeur d’Alene; great-granddaughters Kylee and Zoee Forstrom of Rathdrum, and Oliviea Forstrom of Coeur d’Alene; sister Bonnie (Waade) Tucker (Rich) of Hayden, Idaho; “sister” Jannie (Lee) Ufford of Rathdrum, Norma Ford and Linda Waade of Southern California; nephew Jeff Tucker (Kandi); cousin Duane Gleason (Irene Hendrickson); as well as many Gleason, Hendrickson, Waade family and friends in Idaho, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin and California.

She was so very proud of her family and was loved by everyone who knew her. Mom, you will be missed so very much. We love you and you will be in our hearts forever.

A memorial luncheon will be held in her honor from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016. The location is 7312 N. Mt. Carrol, Dalton Gardens ID 83815.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit Bobbie’s online memorial at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com and sign her guest book.
