LIBBY — The Glacier Twins A went on an offensive rampage, shaking off a difficult weekend by walloping the Libby Loggers 11-0 and 21-1 on Tuesday night at Lee Gehring Field.

The Twins went just 1-5 during the Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial Tournament in Whitefish over the weekend but shed any residual bad vibes against the Loggers. In the two games, both of which were shortened to five innings by the 10-run rule, the Twins scored 32 runs on 29 hits.

Glacier led 1-0 after four innings of Game 1 before they erupted for 10 runs in the fifth to pull away. Ryan Veneman fired a complete game, allowing four hits and striking out five.

Tristin Steinwand went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs in the opener. James Sampson-Keck, Vinny Smith and Veneman each added two hits.

Game 2 was out of reach even earlier, with Glacier scoring 12 times in the third and seven more in the fourth. The Twins had 17 hits against two Libby pitchers.

Tyler Murphy went 2 for 4 with four RBIs in the Game 2 rout. Smith was 3 for 3 with three runs scored, three RBIs and a double, and Veneman also drove in three runs.

Mariners sweep Missoula

POLSON — Kade Schutzmann fired a two-hit shutout in Game 1 and the Mission Valley Mariners A swept a doubleheader from the Missoula Mavericks A with 6-0 and 4-1 wins.

Schutzmann allowed only two singles and walked three in a seven-inning complete game. He struck out four and got plenty of support in the first two innings from his offense.

The Mariners chased Missoula starter Andrew Leonard in the second inning, putting a three-spot on the board in the first and adding another run in the second. Anthony Jones went 3 for 4 to pace Mission Valley from the leadoff spot.

Pitching was again the story in Game 2, with Bransen Krebs going the distance and allowing only five hits to earn the win. Krebs struck out eight and walked only three.

Jacob Harrod and Tyson Petticrew each had two hits in the 4-1 victory in the second game.
