ROYAL CITY — If you are interested in a used car that has been well maintained, the city of Royal City has two that will be sold on July 19, the Royal City Council learned at is meeting of June 21.

These cars were used by the Royal City Police Department and have been replaced with new cars. The city has been accepting closed bids.

“There has been lots of interest in these vehicles so far,” Police Chief Darin Smith said.

In other council business, a motion was made to authorize Mayor Kent Andersen to sign an agreement with Lexipol for approximately $1,500 annually. Lexipol is an online service that provides and maintains up-to-date information on policies/procedures/training/etc. for organizations such as police departments.

Public Works Director John Lasen reported that the final service connection to the main on Daisy Street would be completed in the “next day or two.” Road patching and clean-up would follow.

Lasen met with Del Boyce regarding the well No. 1 update. and several different solutions were discussed. The first step is to determine if the well shaft is wide enough to accommodate a separator attachment. Boyce will run these tests.

If the separator attachment does indeed fit inside the well shaft, council prefers to proceed with the old motor along with the separator attachment.

A motion was adopted to authorize Othello Construction to proceed with city shop improvements The old Grant County shop houses city equipment, including the sewer jetter and backhoe.

Mayor Andersen reported that he met with Anderson Parry to discuss the Camelia Street project.

The Council voted to authorize Finance Director Greg Pike to attend the Washington Finance Officers Association (WFOA) annual conference in Spokane on September 21-23.

The council was made aware of the latest population estimates released by the OFM for 2016

The Council approved a consent agenda that includes Council meeting minutes from June 7, a payroll of $22,227.45 claims of $6,396.69
