The Kalispell City Council will vote tonight on a proposed update to its urban renewal plan for South Kalispell.

While the plan update addresses options for redeveloping the Kalispell City Airport and surrounding land and neighborhoods, it does not make a determination on the municipal airport’s fate.

The plan update details five options for the airport: keep the facility as is; close the airport; expand and maintain the airport to Federal Aviation Administration standards to receive federal funding; incorporate the airport into an airport authority; or privatize the airport.

The city contracted CTA Architects to draft the update to the plan, which also includes minor changes following a Kalispell Planning Board work session earlier this year.

The council will vote on the ordinance amending the South Kalispell Urban Renewal Plan after a public hearing.

In other business, City Council will take a preliminary vote on a resolution to extend the Evergreen sewer district boundary to include several properties along the Whitefish River. Those properties include 17.2 acres owned by Carol Fontaine, who requested to be connected to the sewer system.

The resolution would authorize an interlocal agreement between the city and the sewer district to add a total of 126 acres to the district.

The consent agenda also includes an ordinance accepting a $10,904 grant to the Kalispell Police Department to help pay for a pair of portable radios and a cellular technology forensics training.

TONIGHT’S meeting begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 201 First Ave. E.
