Shadow men suffer first road loss in three seasons

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Spokane Shadow suffered their first road loss in 19 outings in their three years in the Evergreen Premier League, falling 2-1 to Bellingham United on Sunday.

The loss by Spokane (6-4-1) to Bellingham (7-3-1), combined with the league-leading Vancouver Victory’s (9-0-2) 3-0 win over the Olympic Force, eliminated the Shadow from championship contention.

The Shadow’s streak finished at 15-0-3 with identical 6-0-1 records the first two championship campaigns and a 3-0-1 mark this year.

Spokane plays at Vancouver on Saturday and at Wenatchee on Sunday.

MARYSVILLE, Wash. — Sarah Cox had a goal and an assist for the Shadow (10-1-0), who had clinched the Northwest Premier League championship with its victory Saturday over the Seattle Stars.

Spokane is idle this week, then wraps up the season July 30 at home vs. second-place South Sound (6-0-5) at Spokane Falls Community College.

Fuerza is 2-6-2.
