A group of about 12 people gathered at Sinkiuse Square in Moses Lake Thursday night to pay tribute to the five police officers who were shot and killed in Dallas, Texas on July 7.

MOSES LAKE — Three Moses Lake Police Department officers were sent to Dallas on Wednesday to pay respects to their five fellow lawmen who were slain on July 7.

Cpl. Tom Tufte and officers Nick Stewart and Omar Ramirez traveled to Dallas on Wednesday and made their return trip on Saturday. Southwest Airlines donated airline tickets so officers from not only the MLPD, but from around the United States could attend the memorials of Dallas Police Department Senior Cpl. Lorne Ahrens, DPD Sgt. Michael Smith, DPD officer Michael Krol, DPD officer Patrick Zamarripa, and Dallas Area Rapid Transit officer Brent Thompson, all five of whom were shot and killed on July 7.

The three MLPD officers stayed with relatives in the Dallas area, which minimized the cost for the MLPD, according to Capt. Mike Williams. The officers had the opportunity to meet with DPD Chief David Brown during their trip and presented him with a MLPD photo that was signed by each member of the force.
