LEWISTON — Coeur d’Alene took the lead with four runs in the top of the seventh inning, but Lewis-Clark answered with four runs in the bottom half en route to a 12-7 victory in the semifinal game of the class AA Area A (district) tournament Friday at Harris Field.

Lewis-Clark qualified for state next week in Boise with the win.

The Lums (12-23) face No. 4 seed Prairie today at 1 p.m. in a loser-out game. The winner qualifies for state, and plays top seed Lewis-Clark at 5 in the championship game.

Jarred Hall had a pair of hits and drove in a pair of runs for No. 3 seed Coeur d’Alene.

LEWISTON — Jerrett Plunkett hit a go-ahead two-run, two-out double in the top of the ninth inning as the Cardinals scored three runs in the inning and eliminated the Mountaineers.

Jared Porter struck out eight in seven innings for Prairie (15-31). Plunkett finished 2 for 4 with three RBIs.

Northern Lakes finished 14-20.

OROFINO — Matthew Gjevre drove in three runs and Bennett Cunningham went 3 for 4 as Coeur d’Alene scored five runs in the last two innings and beat the Blue Devils in the second round of the Area A (district) tournament to clinch a berth in the state tournament.

Today, Coeur d’Alene (25-19) plays the winner of Friday’s late game between Orofino and Moscow.
