Laps turn out to be a lullaby

A concerned caller told the Whitefish Police Department there was a car in a parking lot on Hospital Way “doing laps.” Officers checked on the suspicious vehicle, and found the driver and passenger were just parents trying to get their infant to fall asleep.
A motorized scooter was reported stolen from a driveway on Waverly Place.
A vehicle allegedly backed into another vehicle on East Third Street.
An employee of a Central Avenue business told police a group of transients were hanging out on the corner, yelling at and bothering downtown customers. Officers told the group to move along.
A man called police when he discovered another driver had parked a vehicle touching the bumper of his car downtown and caused some damage. An officer arrived just in time to stop the offending driver from leaving the scene. Insurance information was exchanged between the two drivers, and the offending driver was cited for parking improperly.
An East 13th Street resident called police to report a loud fight going on nearby, allegedly involving a man and woman yelling profanity at each other. Officers found that a group of people had pulled over and were attempting to assist a heavily intoxicated friend.
A Dakota Avenue resident reported hearing two shots fired nearby. Officers were unable to locate any suspects or hear any shot-like sounds.
A caller on Baker Avenue told police they had witnessed two men break a crosswalk sign. Officers were unable to confirm that the sign was damaged, and unable to find the suspects described by the caller.
A caller on 9th Street West told the Columbia Falls Police Department that a man had been asked to leave the business and took off with a bottle of beer and an axe. The caller, who was an employee, said the same man had possibly been sleeping outside the business. Officers made contact with the axe-wielding suspect, and advised him of an outstanding warrant from another state. The man said he was just moving through town.
The Smith Valley Fire Department responded to reports of a grass fire on Marquardt Lane.
The West Valley Fire Department responded to reports of smoke outside on Hagerman Lane.
