LEWISTON — Dominic Conigliaro and Jarred Hall drove in three runs each as the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen beat the Prairie Cardinals 14-0 in a loser-out game in the class AA Area A (district) American Legion baseball tournament Saturday at Harris Field.
The win advanced the Lums to state for the 11th time in 12 years.
Coeur d’Alene (13-24) will open at state on Tuesday at Timberline High in Boise. It is the second straight trip to state under third-year coach Zach Clanton.
Jerrett Plunkett had two hits for Prairie, which finished 15-32.
In the Area A championship game later Saturday, Brett Stapleton had three hits and Conigliaro had two hits for Coeur d’Alene in a 12-1 loss to Lewis-Clark (34-9).

OROFINO — Levi Haen and Bennett Cunningham had two RBIs each, leading the Lumbermen past the Moscow Blue Devils in the Area A (district) championship game at Orofino High.
“The boys came out loose, but focused on baseball all weekend,” said Coeur d’Alene coach Pat Capone, whose team has won 14 of 16, including 10 straight. “We are playing the best baseball of the year at the right time. I’m proud of every one of my guys and the effort they’ve put in all summer. It’s really nice to see hard work pay off.”
Coeur d’Alene (26-19) opens the state tournament on Thursday at Twin Falls High.
