Festival Amadeus: Whitefish
Monday, Aug. 8 — Chamber Night 1: Shtrykov-Tanaka Duo.
The Festival opens with the rare gem of a clarinet and piano duo featuring Belarus clarinetist Maksim Shtrykov and pianist Misuzu Tanaka in an innovative program of music from Argentina, France, Germany, Mexico and Spain.
Tuesday, Aug. 9 — Chamber Night 2: Fry Street Quartet with Sooyun Kim.
The internationally recognized Fry Street Quartet performs Bartok’s String Quartet No. 5 followed by two works for flute from Mozart and Foote with Sooyun Kim. Kim is an Artist Member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York City who enjoys a flourishing career performing with orchestras around the world.
Wednesday, Aug. 10 — Orchestra Night 1: Mozart and Schubert.
Pianist Misuzu Tanaka will perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 9 “Jeunenomme” with the Festival Amadeus Orchestra. Also performed will be works by Salieri and Schubert. Tanaka is internationally lauded for her virtuosity and musical sensitivity.
Thursday, Aug. 11 — Chamber Night 3: Music for Trumpet and Piano.
Works by Mozart, Ravel, Mendelssohn and more will be performed by Mary Elizabeth Bowden, trumpet, and Stephen Beus, piano. Bowden is highly regarded for her artistry, clarity and masterful trumpet sound. She often performs on the piccolo trumpet, recently releasing her first album, “Radiance.” Beus has won numerous national and international competitions throughout his youthful career, playing in concert halls from Paris to Lisbon to New York City. According to Fanfare Magazine “...his playing is remarkedly original with an interpretive voice all his own.”
Friday, Aug. 12 — Orchestra Night 2: Baroque Extravaganza.
A collection of Baroque concertos performed by a Baroque ensemble with the Fry Street Quartet, joined by flutist Sooyun Kim and Baroque trumpet specialist Mary Elizabeth Bowden. Music by JS Bach, CPE Bach, Vivaldi, Marcello and Albinoni. Harpsichordist Steve Olson will be featured in the popular Bach Brandenburg Concerto No. 5.
Saturday, Aug. 13 — Orchestra Night 3: Mozart’s Clarinet /Haydn’s London.
Clarinetist Maksim Shtrykov joins the orchestra in works for one of most beautiful concertos penned by Mozart. Also on the concert will be Haydn’s last great symphony, the “London.”
Sunday, Aug. 14 — Orchestra Night 4: Schumann Pastoral Finale.
Robert Schumann’s “Piano Concerto in A minor” will be performed by pianist Stephen Beus and the Festival Amadeus Orchestra led by Zoltek. Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 6 in F” pastoral will serve as the finale.
