STRATFORD — Grant County deputies are continuing the search for a 15-year-old Soap Lake boy missing and presumed drowned in Billy Clapp Lake.

At the request of the boy’s family, the sheriff’s office is not releasing the boy’s name, said Kyle Foreman, sheriff’s office spokesman.

The boy disappeared about 5:45 p.m. Sunday. He jumped off the rocks at Summer Falls and either didn’t resurface or struggled to make it to shore and went under, Foreman said.

Sheriff’s deputies searched the lake Sunday night until sundown, then returned to the water Monday, joined by divers from Spokane County. They continued to search Tuesday and will keep looking daily, Foreman said, “with the hopes of recovering the boy and bringing him back for his family.”
