Davis to take PF Chamber helm

POST FALLS — She has been there before. Now she’s coming back — as the boss.
Jamé Davis has been to chosen to succeed Pam Houser as Post Falls Chamber of Commerce president and CEO.
“I have such love not only for the Chamber but working with the community, so as soon as I was made aware of the opportunity I knew I’d definitely throw my hat in the ring,” Davis said Thursday.
For the past four years, Davis was economic development specialist at the Jobs Plus economic development agency in Coeur d'Alene. Before that, though, she was the Chamber's vice president of membership and tourism for two years. Her last day at Jobs Plus is Aug. 18; her first day at the Chamber is Aug. 29.
Davis is replacing former CEO Houser, who left the Chamber after about 10 years to be the development director at Heritage Health.
Davis said the transition should be smooth since she worked at the Chamber before and has remained in the business and economic development realm with Jobs Plus.
"The work is similar in that both help create a business-friendly climate," she said. "I learned a lot at Jobs Plus — and it wasn't like I was looking for a job — but the opportunity presented itself. I'm glad the Chamber conducted a national search to make sure it was the right decision.
"I am thrilled to be joining the Post Falls Chamber team and look forward to working closely with the business community to promote and grow a strong and dynamic community."
The Chamber has more than 400 members.
Davis has more than 20 years of experience in business administration, donor cultivation and economic development. She is a 2011 graduate of the River City Leadership Academy through the Chamber. She and her husband, Ryan, who is executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Kootenai County, have two children, Emily and Sam, and live in Post Falls.
Davis served as director of the Chamber's board for four years. She is past president of the Rotary Club of Post Falls and currently serves as a Post Falls Urban Renewal Agency commissioner and Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center board member.
"A huge benefit to local commerce is that the Chamber is able to promote from within the community," said Jeff Kemp, an owner of Graffiti Sound Solutions and a Chamber board member. "This is a perfect example of value that results from the Chamber's commitment to leadership development."
