STRATFORD – The body of the missing Soap Lake boy was recovered Thursday afternoon.

The 15-year-old cliff jumped at Summer Falls Sunday afternoon, went under the water and did not resurface. The boy’s body was found by a private diver around 2:30 p.m. and is now with Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison. Morrison’s staff will release the boy’s name and conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Early indications point to the boy’s death as an accident as Grant County detectives aided the coroner’s investigation at the scene.

“I am relieved the boy’s body has been found and brought back to his family,” said Sheriff Tom Jones. “There were a lot of people who stepped up to help search and also raise funds for the family, and for that I am grateful that we live in such a concerned community. I will continue to pray for this boy’s family and I ask everyone else to do the same.”

The Sheriff’s Office has not released the boy’s name as of press time at the family’s request.
