GREAT FALLS — The Bitterroot Red Sox continue to have the number of the Glacier Twins, scoring 13 runs in the first three innings to run away with a 15-2 victory in the championship semifinals at the Montana/Alberta American Legion Class A state baseball tournament on Saturday at Centene Stadium.

The Twins got the ball out of the infield one time in the first two innings, struggled to get a hit until the third and didn’t get runners in scoring position until the fourth inning against Red Sox pitcher Kyle Norman.

By that time, Bitterroot already ran away with the game, plating three runs in the first inning and two more in the second inning while picking up two doubles and a triple at the plate. The Red Sox hit around in the third inning, scoring eight more runs to build a 13-0 lead and take the air out of the rematch from the Western A title game.

The Twins shook up their pitching and defense after the third inning, and played Bitterroot even in the rest of the game. Vinny Smith picked up a bases clearing two-run double in the sixth inning to put some numbers on the scoreboard for Glacier, though the game was well in hand.

Tylor Nixon and Justin Horvath each had three hits for Bitterroot, both finishing a home run short of a cycle.

James Sampson-Keck was 2 for 3 and Smith was 1 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for the Twins.

Glacier drops to the loser-out bracket to play the winner of a loser-out game between Laurel and Billings at 4 p.m. today. The winner of that game will play Bitterroot in the championship game at 1 p.m. on Monday.
