Winifred (Winnie) M. Kilian, 88, passed away at Ivy Court in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on May 22, 2016, from Alzheimer’s.

Winnie was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on March 25, 1928, to Archie and Myrtle (Skogland) Holt and was a lifetime resident of Coeur d’Alene. Winnie graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1946 and attended North Idaho Junior College.

Winnie married Donald R. Kilian on Feb. 24, 1949.

She was active in Demaloy and enjoyed scouts and spent several years as a den mother. She was also a mother to everyone in the neighborhood, the door was always open. She had a soft spot for animals and always had cats and dogs around. She loved her flower gardens and was a master at catching and smoking blueback on Lake Pend Oreille. In the summer she never missed the hydroplane races or the Scottish Tattoo.

Winnie is survived by her husband of 67 years, Donald of Coeur d’Alene; three sons: Donald Jr. aka Butch and his wife Joanne of Coeur d’Alene, Timothy and his wife Joanne of Graham, Wash., and Curtis aka Jerry and his wife Trish of Auburn, Wash.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835, or Alzheimer’s Association, 2003 Kootenai Health Way, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814, or a charity of choice.

The memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. Reception will follow the service.
