MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake woman is being held without bail at the Grant County Jail on suspicion of second-degree kidnapping after she allegedly walked away with a 6-year-old boy. The boy was not hurt and was returned to his guardian.

Denae Suhr, 30, had the boy with her when she was arrested at about 5:15 Tuesday, according to information from Moses Lake Police Department. The incident was reported about 4:40 p.m. in the 100 block of Stratford Road, said MLPD Capt. Dave Sands.

The child was playing outside when Suhr approached him, Sands said. Suhr “did not use any force but simply held his hand and said, let’s go.’ The female was called in by a passerby who reported she seemed suspicious and that the child did not appear to be hers,” Sands said.

“Officers located the female and child in Neppel Park sitting on a curb.” Suhr said she “took the child from the street,” Sands said, and “something about ‘being at war.’”
