Kaelyn Smith
Polson sophomore Kaelyn Smith reset the bar among Lady Pirate team softball records when she eclipsed the single season stolen base mark of 39 previously held by Strohm Fouty since 2002. Smith entering the final game of the regular schedule against Whitefish with 37 pilfers, then proceeded to swipe another trio over the course of reaching base safely after three at-bats to push the new total to 40 stolen bases. She proceeded to swipe another one at the State A Tournament, revamping the rewrite to 41 bases stolen in a single season.
Polson Doubles Team
When half of the NWA Divisional runner doubles team of Quaid Harlan and Colin Kenney had to be revamped on account of injury, Pirate singles player Jaron Morgan was deployed into the unexpected vacancy and the transition was about as seamless as one could expect. The tandem of Harlan/Morgan went 3-3 at the State A Tennis Tournament to place sixth for an all-state finish for the stellar career of its senior componentHarlan that also includes 2015 NWA Divisional champion in doubles and a 2014 NWA Divisional fourth place finish in singles. The junior Morgan will return to help reinvigorate the Pirate roster next season with his additional seasoning.

Hall of Fame coaches
This past week, Bret Thompson, the Charlo girls’ basketball coach, was inducted into the Montana Coaches Association Hall of Fame. He has had a great coaching career, and I believe Charlo has been lucky to have him.
