Berenice Marie “Be” (Roy) Schnurr was born Aug. 9, 1921, in LaCrosse, Wis. Be passed away at the Hospice House of North Idaho in Coeur d’Alene on May 26, 2016.

Be was the youngest daughter of Frank and Katherine Roy of Sparta, Wis. She was the last surviving member of her birth family and was preceded by her parents; her sisters, Ethel and

Mildred; and her brother, Francis.

Be’s husband, Robert Renfrew Schnurr, also passed away in Coeur d’Alene in July 2007. Surviving members of Be’s family are her only child, Rick Schnurr and wife Judy Brooks; and Be’s grandchildren, Camilla Ann Briggs and husband Donald, and Joseph Carlson Schnurr.

Be will also be remembered by her step-grandchildren, Abby Brooks and Jessica Brooks; and her great-great-grandchildren, Cade Brooks Miller and Phoebe Brooks Caturay; her sisters-in-law, Barbara Harrison and Jo Dickenson; along with numerous nieces and nephews and their many children. Be will be especially remembered by her friend and loving caregiver, Mary Reese. Be’s whole family is indebted to Mary for her years of warm, caring attention.

In their retirement, Be and Bob Schnurr spent many years traveling, meeting a wide variety of people and learning and participating in their cultures. They were active members of the international program known as Friendship Force, where they were both guests and hosts of numerous intercultural delegations.

We are honoring Be’s last journey from this life to the next. It is a new adventure for her that she will not be taking alone. She is not alone because the Be Schnurr we all know and love is being held in the hearts and memories of all those people who knew her in this life. Be assured us that all of you meant the world to her and that you too blessed her life enormously.

We love you Mom, and look forward to meeting you again the next time around.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Yates Funeral Home, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene.

In lieu of flowers or other gifts, please consider making a donation to Hospice House of North Idaho. The staff of Hospice House are angels who provided loving, respectful and gentle care to Be, her family and friends in her final days.
