Mary E. Wang, 79
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 8 years, 7 months AGO
Jan. 31, 1937 — May 31, 2016
Mom went to join her Lord and Savior Tuesday afternoon, May 31, 2016. Her painful journey has finally ended and she is at peace. Mary was born to Clarence and Myrtle (Stephens) Dorch in Panama City, Fla., where she was raised.
She also met the love of her life, Leonard Wang (deceased), there and where he was stationed at Tyndall Air Base. They were married Dec. 25, 1951. Their marriage ended in 1990.
Together they had eight children: Mary Alice Washburn, Rae Lynn Carnahan (Steve), Verla Kaye Wang-Touse, Kelly Joe Wang, Kevin Lee Wang (Toni), Paul Leonard Wang, Ervin Leonard Wang (deceased) and Brian Keith Wang (deceased). Also preceding Mary in death are her brothers, James and Hennen; and her sister, Helen.
Mary is survived by her six children; sister-in-law Alice (Wang) Spika of Colorado; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings Roger Dale Dorch, Dorothy Shriver, Bobby Eugene Dorch and Jeanette Goss — all of Panama City; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
When she was able, Mary enjoyed her memberships: the Post Falls Eagles, Oddfellow/Rebeccahs, Royal Neighbors, MOCA and VFW, where she was a lifetime member.
The family sends a special thanks to River City Hospice; her wonderful caring nurse, Patti; aide, Tina; as well as Pastor Bob who came and sang with her. The love and care they showed to Mom and the family is more appreciated than they will ever know. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory to River City Hospice may be done.
A viewing is planned from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016, at Peace Lutheran Church, 8134 N. Meyer Road, Post Falls, with a graveside to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
