COEUR d’ALENE — Alivia Metts has been appointed to fill an open seat on the ignite cda board of commissioners.
Tony Berns, executive director of ignite cda, said Metts was selected among three contenders for the job.
Metts will replace Rod Colwell, who served on the board for 16 years before stepping down.
“He served so long on the board, he just wanted to go and do some other things,” Berns said, adding Colwell stepped down at the March board meeting this year.
Michael Pereira and Douglas Marfice were the other two candidates for the job.
According to the April 20 board minutes, Coeur d’Alene Mayor Steve Widmyer, who also sits on the ignite cda board, made the motion to select Metts after briefing the Coeur d’Alene City Council on the candidates.
Widmyer told the ignite cda board that Metts was the council’s top choice.
Metts said she applied for the volunteer position after reading in The Press about the vacancy.
“I am really excited to have the opportunity to serve on the board,” Metts said Wednesday.
Metts previously worked as the regional economist for the Idaho Department of Labor, a position she held for five and a half years before opening a consulting firm, The Metts Group.
Metts recently obtained her real estate license and joined Fortus Realty.
