McFarland: Idaho Family Physician of the Year
The Idaho Academy of Family Physicians named Dr. Robert McFarland from Coeur d’Alene as the 2016 Idaho Family Physician of the Year on May 14 in Boise at the 68th annual Conference of the Idaho Academy of Family Physicians. A tribute was made to McFarland during the meeting, recognizing his contributions to his profession, to medical education and his service and dedication to his community and his state.
He grew up in Coeur d’Alene and after residency training and a few years of practice in Washington, he returned to serve his hometown and has remained for more than 30 years.
“He cares for three generations of many families who identify him as a true hero in their lives,” stated a press release from the academy. “He is a true leader and very involved in the community.”
According to the announcement, McFarland helped found Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy and was instrumental in beginning the Kootenai Clinic Family Medicine Coeur d’Alene Residency program where he now serves as a faculty member.
