Elsie Violet Persicke, 92, passed away May 29, 2016.

Born in Tottenham, London, Sept. 29, 1923, to William and Ida Kilroy, Elsie was married to Dan Persicke in London in 1944, until Dan’s passing in 1967.

Elsie had an adventurous lifespan of 92 years.

The great adventure started during World War II when she met Dan. She had many enlightening wartime stories. Following the war, she came to the United States on a ship with 400 other war brides. Landing in New York, then traveling across the county by train, Elsie ended up in Whitefish. From London to a logging camp in Northwest Montana — what an adventure.

They raised their family of four children a block away from Whitefish City Beach.

Widowed at a young age of 44, she went from housewife to working in a lumber mill, and learning to drive was only the beginning of a life as a single mom.

She ended her working career as a housekeeper at the Whitefish Memorial Hospital.

Elsie is survived by son, Reg Persicke of Seeley Lake, and daughter, Judy Rieker of Hayden Lake, Idaho; as well as five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, Dan; sons, Dennis and Don; and grandson, Eric Persicke.
