Friday gets funky tonight in Cd'A

COEUR d’ALENE — A new summer concert series will kick off tonight in downtown Coeur d’Alene on the southeast corner of Sixth Street and Sherman Avenue.

The new event called “First Friday Funk” and will be held on the first Friday of June, July, August and September, and features regionally and nationally touring funk bands.

The event is a Davis Enterprises Production, the same company that hosts the Live After 5 events on Wednesday evenings in the same location.

Tyler Davis said, much like Live after 5, First Friday Funk is an all-ages, family-friendly concert that features live music, a beer garden and food vendors. The event costs $5 for ages 13 and older, but kids 12 and younger are free.

“We’ve always wanted to route in a Funk band to Coeur d’Alene but they are typically super-expensive as they have 9 to 14 band members,” Davis said in a press release. “First Friday Funk was provided an opportunity to showcase this genre of music and we are very excited for this new series and the talent coming to our city.”
