A burglary at a Post Falls business early Wednesday morning resulted in $5,540 worth of items stolen and property damage.

Police responded to CN Diesel Performance, an auto repair business at 6000 E. Commerce Loop, at 12:24 a.m.

Two employees reported $4,500 in cash, a 1904 Colt .38 revolver valued at $400, a computer valued at $350 and $40 in miscellaneous items had been stolen. Forced entry through a door also caused $250 in damage.

"We have no suspects at this time," Post Falls Police Capt. Greg McLean said on Thursday.

The employees told police they left the business around 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday. They said they left the office light on and locked the front door using the dead bolt.

When they returned just after midnight, the light was off and the front door was slightly ajar. The employees oftentimes work on their own vehicles at the business at night, according to police.

"The doorjamb was broken and the office was thrashed," the police report states. "Upon observing the doorjamb on the north side of the business, it appears the door was pried open based on the bent metal and scratches observed next to the dead bolt lock."

The cash was in a metal box in a cabinet and the revolver in a desk drawer, the employees told police.

One of the employees told police he saw two males walking south on Commerce Loop and thought that was odd for them to be in the area in the middle of the night. However, the employee didn't obtain a description of the males.
