John F. “Jack” Williamson was born Feb. 3, 1929, in Troy, Idaho, to Mirth MacArthur Williamson and Frank Williamson. The family moved to Palouse, Wash., where they operated the local department store for a number of years. Jack attended school in Palouse, and graduated from Palouse High School in 1947.
After high school, Jack attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho.
He began work for the Grange Supply Company in Pullman, Wash., eventually becoming the General Manager in 1955. In 1960, he joined the First National Bank in Pullman and became the Vice President of the Loan Department. The First National Bank merged with the Old National Bank of Washington (ONB). In 1968, Jack became the General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the Pullman Branch ONB. Following a merger with US Bank, Jack became Vice President where he worked until he retired from banking in 1986. He also served as District Director for the Bank Administration Institute (BAI).
Jack married Glenna Joy Parrish in 1950 at a ceremony in Palouse. They were happily married for 65 years. Jack was very active in civic affairs and Fraternal groups. He was past president, Pullman Jaycees, past president Pullman Chamber of Commerce, past president Pullman Rotary Club, past president Pullman Cougar Club (WSU) and a member of the Good Fellowship Club. Jack received an honorary degree from Washington State University for his Area Chairmanship of the WSU Stadium Fund Drive in 1972.
In 1987, he and Joy moved to Southern California (Palm Desert Area) and worked in Real Estate until they retired in 1994. They retained their home in Thousand Palms and their home on Lake Coeur d’Alene until 2003, when they moved to Leisure Park in Hayden, Idaho.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Mirth and Frank Williamson; and by his sister, Patsy Wegher.
Jack is survived by his wife, Joy of Hayden; and his sons, John of Pasco, Wash., Steve (Jan) of Orlando, Fla., and Mike (Terri) of Vancouver, Wash.; grandchildren Amie, John, Robert, Michael, Katie, Daniel and David; and great-grandchildren Noah and Luke Parker, Avery Allen, and Ledger and Bennet Williamson.
A memorial is planned for a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to either River City Hospice or Hospice of North Idaho.
