SANDPOINT — The family of a young Sandpoint man who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision on North Boyer Avenue last spring say he recovering more quickly than his doctors anticipated.

In an interview with Spokane television station KREM, Jordan Williams’ father, Jeromy, called the pace of his son’s recovery a miracle.

“What Jordan is experiencing with recovery is miraculous. That’s the conclusion you have to draw to,” Jeromy Williams said in the interview.

Williams, 19, was discovered at the Mountain View Drive intersection after dispatchers received a report of a pedestrian lying in the roadway at about 12:41 a.m. on April 11.

He was airlifted to Kootenai Medical Center and later transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

A Go Fund Me account established to help Jordan Williams with his medical expenses stated he suffered a crushed skull, brain contusions and damage to his left eye.

The account has so far raised $25,370 en route to its $30,000 goal. More than 350 people have contributed to the Go Fund Me account in the past month.

Doctors warned that Williams’ speech and motor skills permanently damaged and it may take up to a year for him to speak or form sentences.

“So far, he proving all the doctors wrong,” Jeromy Williams told KREM.

Idaho State Police are investigating the collision. Those with information about the incident are asked to call Trooper Cushman at 208-209-8730.

An inquiry about the status of the investigation yielded no response from ISP.

Jordan Williams is convalescing at a residence in Seattle while awaiting several surgeries, according to a Facebook page that is tracking his recovery.

Jeromy Williams is grateful for witnessing his son’s recovery.

“I’m so glad and privileged to be a part of all this,” Jeromy Williams told the station.
