Kids, don't try this at home

A Rapids Avenue resident called the Columbia Falls Police Department when some kids on bikes allegedly began building ramps in a nearby field. The caller was concerned because the area was private property and the kids “shouldn’t be out there.” The suspected daredevils were not there by the time officers arrived, but extra patrols were being performed in the area.
A Third Avenue West resident called to complain about a dog that had allegedly been barking for more than three hours. Before officers arrived the resident called back to say the barking had stopped.
A Second Avenue West resident called to report a stolen vehicle with a handgun inside. Upon investigation, officers were able to locate the vehicle. It had not been stolen.
A 12th Avenue West resident called police to report several motorcycles and ATVs going up and down the road at speeds “in excess of 75 mph.” Officers made contact with the riders in question, and all parties were counseled.
A caller on Ninth Street West was concerned that the money just taken out of an ATM was counterfeit. Officers met up with the caller and examined the cash. It was all found to be real.
An A Street West North resident called to complain about loud music coming from a nearby residence. Officers spoke to the offending parties, and they agreed to shut everything off for the night.
The Whitefish Police Department responded to calls about two boys allegedly spray-painting all over the bike path off Spokane Avenue. The suspected vandals hit the path, a light post and some signs before officers made contact. The juveniles were arrested and later released to their mothers.
A caller told police that the front license plate had been taken off their truck sometime overnight on Central Avenue.
A caller reported finding a bike in the river and thought it might have been stolen. Officers picked up the bike.
A Colorado Avenue resident called police to report that two males had jumped a fence and were messing around on the playground. Officers were unable to locate the men.
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office assisted with a water rescue near Hawkes Lane in Essex.
The Ferndale Fire Department responded to reports of an explosion on Aero Lane.
The Marion Fire Department responded to a grass fire on Truman Creek Road.
The Kalispell Fire Department responded to two separate reports of a gas odor, one on Appleway Drive and the other on U.S. 93 South.
The Smith Valley Fire Department responded to an illegal burn on Kila Road.
The Bad Rock Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Martini Lane.
