Helene Wurmlinger passed away May 22, 2016. She was born Aug. 21, 1926, to Nicklas and Mary (Nimesheim) Dulvick in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

After graduating from high school, her adventuresome spirit led her to immigrate to Detroit, Mich., where she worked at Parke Davis Pharma-ceuticals as well as assisting for a local dental practice. In 1946 she met Joseph Paul Wurmlinger, her future husband of 44 years; after they married in 1947 they moved to Redford Township, Mich., where they raised their four children: Donna (Jerry) Swift, Mark Wurmlinger, Patricia Nothaft and Eric (Rosalynd) Wurmlinger.

Her passion for education was demonstrated by earning a LPN degree in 1967 and later returning to college, earning an R.N. degree in 1974, specializing in neonatal intensive care. She was dedicated to her patients and enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Her favorite trips included Mexico, Hawaii, Central America, Africa and Europe. She volunteered and served in several community organizations such as the Sister Cities International and the Henry Ford Greenfield Village Museum. After the death of her beloved husband in 1991, she relocated to Green Valley, Ariz., where she joined many close friends and appreciated the climate and retirement lifestyle.

In 2013, she moved to Post Falls, Idaho, to be closer to family.

She is survived by her daughters and son; grandchildren Patrick, Kristina, Mary-Kathryn Nothaft, and Dane and Jillian Wurmlinger; her sister, Mary Scheer; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren. Helene was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; son Mark; sister Anna Braun Feldman and brother Joseph Dulvick.

A special thanks to Hospice of North Idaho, as well as the staff at Garden Plaza, and her many friends at the retirement community for their care and companionship. She appreciated each and every one of you.

A Mass and celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, at St. George Catholic Church, 2010 N. Lucas St., Post Falls, and final internment of remains will be in Michigan.
